Who We Are

VeriSniff helps slow the spread by helping identify people who have an unexplained loss of their sense of smell

F.A.Q

Frequently Asked Questions

Research says no. Less than an estimated 60% of people infectious with coronavirus exhibit a fever. Also, temperature readings from inexpensive infrared thermometers are often wildly inaccurate and unreliable. Coronavirus patients are far more likely to have anosmia than significant fever.

Simply hand the customer a VeriSniff envelope and ask them to scratch identify the smell on the sticker. Then tear it open to compare their answer with the label inside.

With COVID-19, loss of smell is [...] caused by a signaling disruption. [...] the virus attacks cells behind the bridge of the nose immediately next to olfactory neurons. [...] The tissue becomes inflamed, temporarily disrupting the ability of the olfactory neurons to signal the presence of an odorant

Disorders may occur at varying intensities and prior to the general symptoms of COVID-19 and should be considered as part of the clinical features of COVID-19, even in mild cases. There is still no scientific evidence of specific treatments for such disorders in COVID-19 disease

The Lancet

A majority of COVID-19 patients experience some level of anosmia, most often temporary, according to emerging data. Analyses of electronic health records indicate that COVID-19 patients are 27 times more likely to have smell loss but are only around 2.2 to 2.6 times more likely to have fever, cough or respiratory difficulty, compared to patients without COVID-19
